Training and Placement Cell

University Institute of Technology (UIT) is a leading government institute of Northern India, located on the campus of Himachal Pradesh University in Summer Hill, Shimla. Approved by the All India Technical Education Committee (AICTE), the institute began operations on September 11, 2000 in accordance with the order of the Executive Committee, initially with 60 students for B. Tech. (Information Technology). Over the years various branches have been added and at present there are five branches of engineering viz. Information Technology, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Presently, there are about fifteen hundred students in UIT.

Placement and training department at UIT is constantly in touch with companies to make the students employable. The placement cell also helps the students in their personality development through group discussions, mock interviews and industrial interface. Student Placement in the Institute is accomplished by team headed by the Training Placement Officer under the guidance of Director. On an average, many good companies visit the Institute every year to interview students who are about to graduate. The number of such interviews has risen considerably over the years and the Institute also tries to arrange for mock interview sessions for preparation of students. The institute also helps and guides the students with their internship/training, which is done in accordance with the student’s preferences.

The institute offers a holistic approach towards placements with Industrial Interaction being the major part. The Training and Placement offered at UIT comprises of the following:

  • Developing and Executing the Placement strategy
  • Organising placement drives
  • Coordinating all the activities related to Placement
  • Interacting with the Past and potential Recruiters
  • Organizing the Career Counselling session by experts
  • Guiding Resume Writing, GD and Interview(s) skills development sessions
  • Maintaining student Resume Bank
  • Developing and maintaining Database
  • Monitoring the progress of Placement activities

Programs Highlights:

UIT is currently operating five branches , that are as follows :

  1. Computer Science Engineering
  2. InformationTechnology
  3. Civil Engineering
  4. Electronics and Communication Engineering
  5. Electrical Engineering

The courses are designed as per required norms and general employability requirements. Moreover, the course structure has been modified as per current trends in fields of engineering. There are eight semesters in all the branches divided into a course curriculum that makes the student learn and expertise knowledge both in a theoretical and practical way.
