The Department of English, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, was established in the year 1970, initially with an intake of 40 students in M.A. English programme. Since its inception the Department has been actively involved in academics and research at National and International level. The highly qualified Faculty of English has excelled in new areas of study and research in terms of projects and study centers attracting major grants from various funding agencies, thus contributing to the growth of the department.
