The Department regularly holds workshops, seminars, conferences and special lectures from time to time. Extension lectures are regularly held in the Department and the faculty members also visit other universities for academic purposes. New areas of study are introduced. The faculty has been participating in various activities of national and international level i.e. participating in Editorial boards, Monograph writing, Newsletter writing etc. Prof. Girija Sharma is the Editor of University Newsletter Himshikhar. Dr. Rekha Sharma has been associated with the translation of the University Ordinance and Statutes.

In the year 2014-15, 4 students qualified NET/JRF, 2 qualified NET, 9 qualified SLET. During 2014-15, 60 Ph.D. students obtained their Ph.D. degrees in the Department of English. Many foreign nationals are seeking admission in the Department of English. One Afghan national has already taken admission in M.A. English 2014-15 while others are in the process of admission.
