Department of Public Administration

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Public Administration   Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla,171005. Public Administration is most progressive and upcoming   stream of social sciences. The Department of Public Administration was set up in the year 1987. The Department has full time courses for M.A.,M. Phil and  Ph.D.in Public Administration . The academic programmes of the  Department is approved by the academic bodies of the University. Vision of the Department is to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the  system of Governance .In neoliberal state where people participation in Governance is very important  role of Public Administration as subject has  become very practical and  relevant.

Mission of the Department is to provide all students with healthy learning and research environment supported by appropriate well defined curriculum & experienced teaching faculty .Diversified course content of this subject  has made the course popular among students aspiring tobeinAdministrativeservices.
The department has  vibrant faculty of Four Professors and two Assistant Professors and about  101  students in the Post-Graduation, M. Phil and Ph.D. courses. The department focuses on overall grooming of the students by giving assignments, taking presentations, organizing  brainstorming exercises, group discussions, seminars , conferences  ,workshops and expert lectures from other universities. Department strives to inculcate in students values of reason, Discipline, democracy, patriotism, respect for difference, Professionalism and social responsibility .The celebration of  Civil Service Day, Environment Day and Human Rights Day, every year are part of important activities of the department. Department has its echo club, consumer club  & Red ribbon Club. Students of Public Administration are also working as genderchampionsinsociety.
