The Department of Public Administration at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla was established in the year 1987. The Department is presently running M.A. (2 years), M. Phil Public Administration (1 year, since 1987), Ph. D. in Public Administration and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Development (since 2000) Under the PGDHRD 15 candidates are admitted every year through Entrance Test conducted by HPU Shimla.
Mission:
 The Department will make every effort to organize Seminars/workshops as frequently as possible.
    Department will work to seek UGC SAP status.
    Involvement of Alumni in the growth and development discipline of Public Administration.
Location:
The Department of Public Administration is housed in the 2nd floor of Dr. Ambedkar Bhawan near the Summer Hill Chowk. The area occupied by the Department is approximately 500 square meters.
