Admission is made on the basis of Entrance Examination in the Post Graduate Course (M.Com.). In average, every year, 1800 to 2000 candidates apply for admission and on the basis of merit in Entrance Examination, students are admitted as per the number of seats. The intake in M.Com. is 51 (45 subsidized + Five Non-subsidized and one Single Girl Child. The seats vary subject to the approval of Vice-chancellor or modifications as per the directions of Government or Universities Grants Commission.


During M.Phil Course, the students have to qualify Two papers and have to complete the Dissertations under supervision of their supervisors. After completion of the dissertations and their evaluation, they have to face viva-voce examination. The students have also to accomplish the requirement of successful presentations. Every year, there is a total intake of 21 seats spread as 16 (15 + one for single girl child) subsidized seats on the basis of Entrance examination Merit Roaster and FIVE seats under Self Financing Category which vary year to year with the approval of Vice-chancellor. In average 250 to 300 students apply for admission in M.Phil and those in merit as per the Entrance Examination are admitted.


Knowing the importance of universities being the institutions of higher learning by promoting and conducting researches, having research based experienced teaching faculty, Department of Commerce has tremendously contributed to encourage research activities. On an average, every month there is some achievement of completion of the research work by Ph.D. or M.Phil. student. Admissions in Ph.D. prgramme are made twice in the year based upon the number of vacancies. The criteria for admission is; through entrance examination in one slot and direct admissions for JRF/NET etc. on their merit base in the second slot.
