The Department of Psychology is one of the premier departmennts which, right from inception in the year 1975 has incessiantly strived to inclucate the motto of scientific attitude in its students. The Department attained high academic ability and class through Prof. Emeritus Sagar Sharma and Prof. Emeritus Dalip Malhotra who also remained Full Bright Scholar, Late. Prof. A.S. Sethi, distinquished Scholar, Prof. K.A. Shiralli, Prof. Anup Sud and Prof. R.S. Pirta. The Department reached the milestones and became a pillar of strength in academics during their time. The Department has maintained its tradition of experimentation with equal emphasis on applied areas. It has well-equipped laboratory and library. Since its inception, the faculty of the department has contributed immensely to the field of psychology as The department of psychology has a reputational image in terms of excellence in research and teaching. The faculty has attained international recognition and the alumini have excelled as professionals in different parts of the world. Major areas of research are Clinical Psychology, Persoanality, Guidance and Counselling, Organizational Behavior, PositiveSsychology and Health Psychology.
The faculty has published its work extensively ithrough books, articles, reviews, and research papers in reputed journals. The Department has produced a large No. of Ph.D's and still actively involved in guiding Ph.D as well as M.Phil. Research Scholars. The department also invites distiquished visiting shcolars and holds workshops and conferences. The Department offers teaching and research programs for M.A., P.G. Diploma in Clinical Psychology, M.Phil and Ph.D. At the Master's level, a wide spectrum of courses spreading over a period of four semesters are offered in order to equip the students to pursue specillization in areas of their interest.
Course curriculum has both academic as well as societal relevance and incorporates contemporary issues.
