Eligibility

1. Master of Science (M. Sc.)
The candidate should have passed a Bachelor Degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Science in. Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Botany or Zoology or M.B.B.S./B.V.Sc from any Institute/ University recognized by the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla/ University Grant Commission, New Delhi with at least 50% marks for general and other category and 45% for SC/ ST category candidates. A common entrance test is conducted for the M.Sc. Microbiology program by Himachal Pradesh University, in which following institutes participate: HPU Main Campus, CRI Kasauli and Shoolini Institute of Life Sciences and Business Management (SILB). On the basis of entrance merit and preference of student the seats are allotted.

2. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.)

Ph.D. is a full time regular course of study pursued by regular attendance in classes and seminars. A candidate seeking admission to the Ph. D. course must have at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST) in the subject concerned at Master's  level. The students having valid JRF score can apply in July cycle and can appear for interview. The university also conducts a separate entrance test for the vacant seats of Ph.D. program for Non JRF students in January cycle. On the basis of entrance merit and preference of student the seats are allotted.
