Objectives
The main objective of establishing centre/department in the university was to extend knowledge and other institutional resources to the community and vice-versa. The detailed objectives are listed below:
- To make education relevant to real life situation.
- To help enhance the quality of life –among the students/community as a whole.
- To make higher education as an instrument of social transformation by disseminating numerous need-based knowledge and information to the community.
- To develop the capabilities of the community by providing capacity building programmes so that personal skills are upgraded to enhance overall personality development.
- To develop strong linkages/coordination with the developmental agencies of Government and Non-Government organizations to strengthen formal and non-formal education programmes.
- To involve teachers and students as a institutional resources for community development.
- To make diverse learning needs of the community more relevant by conducting and adopting action research.
- To promote a meaningful and sustained rapport between the universities and the communities.
- To develop a sense of responsibility and integration with the society amongst the educated.
- To deepen the teacher’s knowledge through a wider exposure to real life situations.
