Dr.PremLata Chandra took her M.A. in German Studies from Banaras Hindu University in 1993. For the pursuit of higher studies, she proceeded to Centre of German Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She obtained her M. Phil. at the Centre of German Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 1995 after having submitted her dissertation on Elias Canetti. During her M.Phil. Studies, Dr.Prem Lata Chandra was awarded DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Fellowship to engage in research-activities at the University of Hamburg, Germany for three months. Having completed her M.Phil. Dr.Prem Lata Chandra continued with her Ph.D. Studies at the Centre of German Studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University. She obtained her Ph.D. at the Centre of German Studies after completing her detailed research-work on the idea of Language and Identity in the works of Elias Canetti. She was chosen for ÖAD (Austrian Academic Exchange Service) Fellowship during her Ph.D. research-work, which enabled her to spend a long period of her Ph.D. research-work at the University of Graz, Austria.
