On realizing the need of trained library personnel in the country, the Department of Library and Inforamtion Science was established as a full fledge department of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla under the faculty of Social Sciences in the year 2020. Two, one year duration degree courses, namely Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Master of Library and Information Science has been started from the academic session (2020-21).
The Department aims at providing the best learning resources to our students to meet the requirment of quality manpower in teaching, research and other related fields. I am sure that in the presence of young, dynamic and scholastic faculty, the journey for the higher learning of the students in the field of Library and Information Science will be greatly enriched in the time to come.
